Madison Square Garden is scheduled to host the 500th ever UFC event on November 2, which also happens to be the home for UFC 244.

Headlining the highly anticipated event are Jorge Masvidal (34-13) and Nate Diaz (20-11), two of mixed martial arts’ most beloved and established figures today, competing for the new BMF championship

That’s why the main event was in near disarray when Nate Diaz posted an essay to Twitter getting out ahead of controversy with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

“I’m not gonna make it out to NYC for fight week next week because they say I tested with elevated levels that they say might be from some tainted supplements,” Diaz posted. “I call false because I only take Whole Food or natural food supplements. I don’t even eat meat.

“So until UFC, USADA or whoever is messing with me fixes it, I won’t be competing,” he continued. “I’m not gonna play their game and try and hide it or keep it quiet, as they suggested.”

Other mixed martial artists came out in support of Diaz, vouching for his claim that he is not a cheat.

“Good work,” commented Augusto Mendes, a former UFC competitor and jiu-jitsu practitioner. “Just one day for Nate and took 13 months to clear me, making me spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to prove my innocence. For me, it’s disgusting the way they treat some of the fighters.”

Masvidal obviously wants the main event to happen. Diaz and Masvidal have a history of respect between and want to go forward with the fight.

“You’re not the maddest mofo in the game (I am), but you are one of the cleanest,” Masvidal tweeted at Nate Diaz.

UFC President Dana White also offered support for Diaz, adding that upon further review the fight will go on.

“The fight is on,” White said. “I 100 percent knew Nate wasn’t taking anything to cheat.”

So it looks like UFC fans are getting the main event after all.
