The month of August was busy and went fast as I thought it would.

The 102nd Precinct sponsored the annual National Night Out Against Crime event on August 6 at Victory Field. The GWDC had a table, and we handed out smiley face cups, stickers, pencils and mini-airplanes.

Thanks again to the 102nd Precinct and their hard work to make this yearly event a complete success.

Plastic Soul played their tunes on August 9 during Oldies Music Night at Forest Parkway Plaza. We had a great crowd there that night including local residents, visitors, and people coming home from work on a Friday night to stop and listen to the music. We had several dancers, too.

Since this was such a success, we are trying to plan another one of these music nights soon.

On August 27, Assemblyman Mike Miller and the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation co-sponsored a MetroCard Van visit. The mobile unit was at the intersection of Forest Parkway and Jamaica Avenue.

MTA representatives were on site to answer questions and provide other services. We plan on doing more events with Assemblyman Miller whenever possible.

And now that September is here, it is time for Mets tickets. We are in the last phase of getting tickets for the game on Monday, September 9. It is not 100 percent confirmed, but I am confident that we are getting them, so I am putting it in this article.

If you would like tickets, call our office at (718) 805-0202. Please leave a message and we will call you back.

August is over, but I will definitely try to sneak in a few more beach days. And although September marks the end of summer, it is not to be hated (and it is my birthday month, too!), so enjoy the cooler weather and getting back to school.

Last but not least, don't forget the Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival on October 13 from noon to 6 p.m. As usual, we will have several bands, plenty of food, rides and games, ponies and much more. If you would like to be a vendor or want information on the street fair, just call the office from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday or Friday. Enjoy September and see you in October.
