Boroughs of the Dead is returning to Queens with “Frights and Phantoms of Flushing.”

Boroughs of the Dead Walking Tours feature tours all over the city where dark and hidden historical stories are exposed and ghost stories are told.

The tours are inspired by the book “Boroughs of the Dead: New York City Ghost Stories,” written by the company’s founder and author Andrea Janes.

Tour guide Marie Carter, who leads tours in Astoria, researches and creates tours based on fascinating and downright shocking claims, with many stories unknown to the city’s residents.

“I like to get the history in as well, in a way that is fun and accessible to people,” Carter said. “Astoria has an amazing history and I feel like it’s not readily apparent because so many of the old buildings that used to be here are gone.”

The “Fights and Phantoms of Flushing” tour takes you on a trip around the historic neighborhood, which features some of the oldest, best-preserved and most significant buildings in the country.

According to Carter, this tour will “examine the fascinating history of the neighborhood, as well as its abundant ghoulish and ghostly stories.”

The two-hour walk will take you to the places where the bodies are buried, as the tour group dissects some of the fears that have haunted its most storied residents from fear of religious persecution, slavery, mortality, ghosts, and poverty.

“We will find out what has kept Flushing’s occupants awake at night,” Carter said.

Meeting Point Outside Flushing Quaker. Meeting House, 137-16 Northern Blvd, Flushing, between Main Street and Union Street. The tour is approximately a mile and a half and ends approximately by Roosevelt Ave. and 149th Pl.
