It is very encouraging to see that despite Congressional obstruction, President Donald Trump has been able to use existing law to take decisive action to deal with the crisis of invasion by illegal aliens on our southern border.
First, Trump used the power granted to him by the National Emergencies Act and related legislation to reallocate funding for the construction of a much-needed border wall.
Now the president has used the discretion provided by the tariff laws to win important concessions from Mexico.
According to a report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, this new cooperation by Mexico has already had a noticeable effect in slowing the flood of invading aliens.
Perhaps Congress will now repent of its obstruction and join President Trump in strengthening border security, reforming the asylum laws, and expediting the deportation of these lawbreakers.
