Michelin Bib Gourmand Chef Melissa O'Donnell recently opened the Eastern Mediterranean restaurant Seven Seeds at The Williamsburg Hotel.

O'Donnell, who earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for her Lebanese-ish restaurant Lil’ Gem, joins forces with owner Toby Moskovits to bring cuisine inspired by foods from Greece, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco, Spain and Italy to Williamsburg.

The female-run restaurant is tucked within the bar and lounge area of the hotel’s 3,000 square-foot ground floor.

The restaurant boasts delectable dips, hot and cold mezze, flatbreads and larger plates with a strong focus on gluten-free and plant-based dishes as well as a creative cocktail menu and wine list from Beverage Director Rael Petit.

Recommended dishes include the dukkah crusted rack of lamb with artichoke fricassee and puree, herbed labneh, which is sprinkled with za’atar, pistachios, and pomegranates, and the spicy Muhamarra, made with roasted red pepper, walnuts and a kick of aleppo pepper.

Chef O’Donnell plays with a traditional caprese but instead of tomatoes she pairs house-made mozzarella with olive oil-drizzled fresh figs. Other interesting dishes include salmon quinoa kibbeh nayeh, fried cauliflower, spiced confit duck wings and a cumin roasted branzino.

To complement the food, Petit focuses on Mediterranean wines from Greece and Lebanon in addition to an orange wine from Oregon. The wine list also emphasizes female producers such as Arianna Occhipinti and Elisabetta Foradori. Rael’s impressive cocktail menu features ingredients such as chickpea water and apricots to provide guests with a well-rounded experience.

Bringing the energy of an Arabian Souk, the restaurant boasts a dramatic atmosphere with soaring ceilings, brick archways and an impressive open kitchen with a wood burning oven. There’s also a picturesque greenery-filled seasonal oasis for outdoor dining.

The restaurant’s decor features white marble and fish-scale patterned tabletops that flows beautifully with the rustic wood communal tables and bright red banquettes. With an open kitchen, guests can view Chef O’Donnell and her team at work.

Seven Seeds and The Williamsburg Hotel is located at 96 Wythe Avenue.
