A. There are several companies trying different ways to draw sellers away from traditional brokerages. My experience and observation of statistical evidence shows that buyers still need the expertise and dedication provided by traditional professional brokers.
If you still want to consider using these other services, I strongly recommend that you look at the whole fee structure. Some of these companies attract you with the promise of a low fee, but then you discover that there are “a la carte” add-ons.
By the time you are done, you have probably spent almost as much as a traditional local broker would cost. There is also the old adage “you get what you pay for.” The question is, given the amount of time and investment in advertising resources any broker will have to spend to sell your home, how much is a discount broker going to do for you?
Q. I’m looking to rent an apartment, but the agent tells me my income is too low and I’ll need a guarantor. I don’t have anyone, so what can I do?
A. There are companies that will act as a guarantor. Basically, you pay them a fee, and they will guarantee your rent.
Not all landlords will work with these companies, but some do, as well as private landlords. You can find them on the internet.
