The Kupferberg Center for the Arts has repeatedly offered affordable programming that represents the many vibrant cultures of Queens, NY. The Kupferberg Center for the Arts has previously hosted Latin American artists including Afro-Peruvian artist Susana Baca, prominent Chilean folk ensemble Inti-Illimani, Latin jazz virtuoso Edmar Castaneda, and Chilean singer-songwriter and activist Nano Stern among many others.
This year, Santa Rosa will perform "soneo", the signature improvisational style that he champions.
Santa Rosa has performed with famed salseros and salsa orchestras like Don Perigñon, Tommy Olivencia’s Primerisima Orquestra de Puerto Rico, and Willie Rosario.
His Broadway debut in the musical revival of Forever Tango in 2013 introduced Santa Rosa’s unique style to an even broader audience.
Santa Rosa, who also goes by El Caballero de Salsa, has recorded nearly twenty albums with many songs charting at #1 on Billboard’s Latin and Tropical charts. He has also earned multiple Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum awards throughout his career.
Tickets range from $42-109. Queens College students will receive a 10% discount with their CUNY ID. Pre-paid parking will be available for Lots 15 North and South, which are directly across from Colden Auditorium.
Free parking will remain available at other campus lots and on the streets around Colden Auditorium. In addition, a first-rate pre-show dinner highlighting Latin American cuisine will be served for audience members who wish to purchase a seat.
