The dessert festival returned to Long Island City for a weekend full of sweet and decadent treats.
From airy Japanese cheesecakes sold by Keki Modern Cakes to vegan ice cream at Smoothme to creative macarons at Woops!, there was something for every fan of dessert. In all, 21 bakeries offered their best, from butter tarts to unicorn ice cream to ornate cake pops.
Dessert Goals co-founders Miraya Berke and Liang Shi thought up the festival five years ago when they realized that the city didn’t have a dedicated dessert festival. The festival has grown to two annual festivals each in New York City and Los Angeles.
While Dessert Goals has always been family-friendly, this year’s festival allowed children aged 6 and younger to attend the festival for free as long as they were accompanied by a ticketed adult. The last time slot of the day also allows well-behaved dogs.
Upon entering the festival, guests are also equipped with complimentary goodies from My/Mo Mochi, Sugarfina, Bodum, Sparkling Ice, Ziko and Boxed Water.
The whole setup was a backdrop for an Instagrammable shot. From an Instagram garden to decor around the Sound River Studio venue, the creators of the festival wanted to make sure attendees had everything for the perfect social media post.
Dessert Goals will continue this weekend (October 20 & 21) at Sound River Studios, which located at 4-40 44th Drive in LIC. For tickets, visit www.dessertgoals.com.
