Bridge fail

Dear Editor:

The photo op of Governor Andrew Cuomo driving across the new TappanZee Bridge spoke volumes concerning his commitment to the MTA and mass transit.

The new TappanZee Bridge provides no rail connections to Metro North with communities west of Westchester, including Orange, Rockland, Ulster and Sullivan counties, to Grand Central Terminal.

This could have provided a new option for thousands of NYC-bound commuters west of the Hudson River. Queens and Brooklyn residents who are reverse commuters looking for access to jobs would also have benefited.

This omission reduced the total project cost by over $1 billion, but Governor Cuomo never acknowledges the real reason the project came in on budget.

Sincerely,

Larry Penner

Great Neck

I agree with you Larry: Governor Crony is trying to cement his transportation legacy, in order to get votes, since he is running for Governor once again for a third term and aspiring to run for president on the democratic ticket in 2020.
