The Woodhaven Business Improvement District will sponsor our Spring Promotion on Saturday, April 8. I hope that you have your free pictures taken with the Easter Bunny and get some free goodies, including American Flags.
Also, I hope drivers parking on Jamaica Avenue won't be shocked when our WBID staff give you a quarter to thank you for shopping our WBID. And I hope that you will enjoy the music of Plastic Soul playing Elvis and other rock and roll favorites.
So, to all our Woodhaven residents and neighbors, the WBID we wishes you a Happy Spring!
The Select Bus Service (SBS) proposal for Woodhaven and Cross Bay boulevards is bad for Woodhaven and local businesses.
The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation, Woodhaven Residents' Block Association, Task Force Committee for a Better Woodhaven, Queens Public Transit Committee, State Senator Joseph Addabbo and Assemblyman Michael Miller, and many residents rallied against the proposal.
Unfortunately, the mayor has decided we will get this SBS plan whether we want it or not. The changes will create a huge traffic jam on Woodhaven and Cross Bay boulevards, forcing vehicles onto residential streets, as well as require riders to board busses from traffic islands.
The plan that no one wants is going to cost taxpayers $200 to $400 million. It really is a shame construction has begun.
The Parks Department's tennis season starts April 1. Full season permits are now just $100 for adults, and online registration is available.
Fly our American flag proudly above all others. May God bless our armed forces, may God bless our disabled veterans, may God bless our leaders, may God bless our NYPD and police officers everywhere, and may God bless our America.
