We have had very beautiful weather with glorious sunsets, and we hope for the continuation of this weather until the end of November. Whatever the weather, please keep shopping your Woodhaven's Everything Avenue.

Our little Woodhaven offers good prices, two-hour parking, personalized assistance in our small-town atmosphere. This is why your WBID, comprised of your store and business owners, do so much to keep your money here locally. Your WBID will have holiday lights and music from Dexter Court to 100th Street. Our WBID streets will be clean as always and 99 percent graffiti vandalism free.

To give our local shopping a boost, Saturday, November 28, has been designated Small Business Saturday, and we are encouraging you to "Shop Personalized Small, Not the Impersonal Mall."

So with the holidays fast approaching, next Saturday our Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation and Woodhaven Business Improvement District encourage you to eat out or order in from one of our great Jamaica Avenue restaurants. Shop locally next Saturday and every day with all of our restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

Remember we have "walkability," so save gas and find anything you need on your Everything Woodhaven's Jamaica Avenue.

On Monday November 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at 89-02 91st Street, the meeting I had mentioned in my articles will take place. In attendance at this meeting will be Queens DOT Commissioner Nicole Garcia, and on the agenda will be the proposed Select Bus Service (SBS) and its detrimental effect on Woodhaven. Also, new street lights throughout Woodhaven.

This is a very important meeting, for this decision on SBS today will affect Woodhaven for many decades to come. This meeting is sponsored by the WBID, the WRBA, the GWDC and the Task Force Committee for an informed Woodhaven.

The WBID staff is now planning our holidays activities. Our Forest Parkway Plaza will again have the beautiful artificial tree that we had last year. So mark your calendar for Friday, December 4, for the Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony with costumed characters and the distribution of Santa hats, and join us on Saturday, December 5, at noon to march with us on our Welcome Santa to Woodhaven Parade.

Fly our American flag proudly above all others. May God bless our armed forces, may God bless our disabled veterans, may God bless our NYPD and may God bless America.
