The company gave away more than 700 backpacks, which contained pencils, notebooks and other school supplies.
Tenants enjoyed local food, cotton candy, snow cones and more.
“Bringing the community together gives us great pride and joy,” said Tony Subraj, vice president of Zara Realty. “We love our tenants, and want to see them enjoying the perks of being a tenant in the Zara community.”
Other activities included face painting, hanging out with Batman and a top-of-the-line photo booth.
Staff from Premier Cardiology administered blood pressure and glucose testing. The FDNY was also present, conducting fire safety drills and conversing with community tenants.
Zara also partnered with the Queens Public Library to administer free library cards, so tenants can have access to books and a place to study.
“My family and I have the best time at Zara’s tenant appreciation events,” said Jessica S., a Zara tenant for over 10 years. “My kids love to meet the superheroes and eat cotton candy.”
“It's really great that Zara does this,” added Bruce R., a Zara tenant for two years. “We thank Zara for these school supplies. It saves us money, and time.”
Amir Sobhraj, the CFO of Zara, said Jamaica is a fun, diverse place to live.
“Good food, parks, transportation and affordable apartments are all at your fingertips,” he said.
