We were advised that the city is busing in homeless from other neighborhoods to the drop-in homeless center in the old Dallis Coffee building because we do not have enough homeless people of our own.
The biggest and best family street festival in Queens will take place on Sunday, October 1, from noon to 6 p.m. on Jamaica Avenue from 80th Street to Woodhaven Boulevard.
There will be pony rides, games, antique cars, vendors with unique products, and bargains in Woodhaven's great stores. The entertainment will be country-and-western music from Mary Lamont and rock and roll from Solid State Band, Plastic Soul and Blu Sykyee.
The special feature again this year will be The Malaysian Lion Dancers of Lunar New Year fame and exotic dancers from India.
Come by the GWDC/WBID table in front of 84-01 Jamaica Avenue, where we will be distributing free American flags, flag pins and other giveaways. Or purchase an original Woodhaven Flag for $12 or a beautiful picture of a Forest Park Carousel horse painted by Constance Del Vecchio Maltese for $7.
