Why debt?

Dear Editor,

We are the richest country in the world, so why are we in debt for $20 trillion?

The answer is simple: we have bad financial management.

All this debt is, for the most part, unconstitutional, as there is nowhere in the Constitution that says the federal government can take money from one person and give it to another person.

Taxes are only necessary to run the government, not redistributing money to whoever the government decides should have it. All of our entitlement programs driving us into debt fall into that category.

That said, what is even more unconstitutional is putting citizens into debt by funding these unconstitutional programs. That is not stupidity, it’s criminal.

All this theft started with the progressive movement and their reinterpretation of the Constitution. They claimed to be kind people with big hearts, but putting the country into bankruptcy and a terrible depression is not being kindhearted.

Sincerely,

John Procida
