Where’s the honor?

Dear Editor,

I used to vote for and respect the Republican Party. However, I have become disenchanted by their direction, especially by the election results of 2016. I cannot understand how this person who cheats and lies remains in office and the Republicans who follow him continue to say he does nothing wrong.

Where are the John McCain’s who stand for the truth and doing the right thing for the American people? What happened to obeying oaths of office?

I can only conclude that Donald Trump is a disease insidiously spreading throughout our country. Would you find Donald Trump’s behavior acceptable in your own children? My dad had a saying when observing this type of attitude “hurray for me and the hell with everyone else.”

In the past, we have always held those we voted to the office of the presidency to the highest standard. The current person in office falls well below any standards of decency and respect.

He has lied, he slanders anyone who does not agree with him, and has stolen taxpayer money by having military personnel land to refuel at airports located near his failing resorts and hotels.

Impeaching a president is serious. It does not mean cancelling out the people’s will, it means he has done something that violates his oath of office; oaths to the American people as well as the framers of our Constitution.

It is up to the Republican majority in the Senate to make sure that a full and fair trial with witnesses is held. If they do not follow the rules, they violate our Constitution. We need to make sure we vote those Republicans out of the office.

Sincerely,

Name Withheld Upon Request

Woodhaven
