We ran this photo from our archives of several dignitaries standing on top of the Panorama in the Queens Museum asking for help identifying the folks in the photo, and got responses from two longtime readers, Jeff Gottlieb of the Central Queens Historical Society and Great Neck resident Larry Penner.

Starting from the right we have Republican Assemblyman Doug Prescott, a several-term northeast Queens legislator who was finally beaten by a law-and-order, death penalty advocate in the form of Democrat Ann-Margaret Carrozza in 1996.

Behind him is Assemblyman Ivan Lafetette who served from 1977 to 2008, when he chose not to seek reelection. Lafayette died on October 4 at the age of 86. Third from the left is Councilwoman Juanita Watkins, who served three terms representing southeast Queens. She passed away in 2013.

Flanking the woman at the center of the photo is a young Assemblyman Joseph Crowley – now congressman - who won a five-person Democratic Party primary in 1986 with just 24 percent of the vote, and Assemblyman Alan Hevesi.

Hevesi served in the Assembly from 1971 to 1993, then as city comptroller from 1994 to 2001, and state comptroller from 2003 to 2006.

Third from right is Electchester's Nettie Mayersohn, who took the seat by defeating incumbent David Cohen in 1982. She left the seat to her chief of staff Michael Simanowitz in 2011.

Second from the right is Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer. In April 1987, she was elected to to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Gerdi Lipschutz. In 2001, Pheffer ran for Queens borough president, but dropped out of the contest before Primary Day.

In 2011, she resigned from the State Assembly after becoming Queens County Clerk. Her daughter was just elected to the same Assembly seat this past November.

That still leaves two unidentified individuals in the photo, the man on the far right and the woman in the center. Think you know who they are? Drop us a line at
