In a statement, the Lasak campaign said the party was opting for the “status quo” over the “experienced progressive reform” he would bring to the post.
But she wasn’t the only one to get endorsed recently. The New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America threw their support behind Tiffany Caban.
Who is Tiffany Caban? We’re glad you asked.
Caban has spent her entire legal career (seven years) as a public defender, most recently with the Legal Aid Society. The Richmond Hill native now calls Astoria home. So there you go.
And Caban isn’t the only candidate flying under the radar in the race. Former state prosecutor Jose Nieves, attorney Betty Lugo, and Civilian Complaint Review Board director Mina Malik are also running for the office.
Voter will head to the polls for the Democratic Primary on June 25.
