November has arrived along with the chill that comes with it. I am still in my very light jacket though, probably a slight bit of denial. I can’t seem to pull out the heavier clothing just yet.

As a matter of fact, I picked my last ripe tomatoes just a few days ago. That might not seem like much to the average person, but to me that is amazing. Those who know me understand that my tomatoes are like gold to me, and having them still growing in November is no small feat.

And speaking of no small feat, now that the street festival is over and the paperwork is filed and done, it is again time to plan for 2020’s event. Yes, we do start the planning in December for next year’s event.

I can’t think about that yet though, because before that preparation comes at the end of December we first have the much-anticipated holiday events for Woodhaven. The WBID will be sponsoring the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 6. More of that to come when I hear the details from the WBID.

As far as the big parade is concerned, it will take place on December 7 at 11:30 a.m. by Woodhaven Manor. This parade was unfortunately cancelled last year, but the community of Woodhaven wants and needs their annual parade, so it will be back by popular demand.

If you are interested in marching or need any information on it, please call or visit the office. We are open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Santa will again take pictures by Forest Parkway Plaza during the month of December, but dates are still to be determined.

By the time this article goes to print, Election Day will be over. I hope that everyone voted, and congratulations to all the winners out there.

A happy early Veteran’s Day, and before I end I would like to wish all an early Happy Thanksgiving! See you in December, when I will definitely have the heavier jacket on.
