I feel like I traded a lot of pain for a little pain and a pain-free future. I am now recuperating, but I will continue writing my articles about Woodhaven and the Woodhaven Business Improvement District during my recovery.
Our little Woodhaven has really been hot, then we finally had some rain, but no matter how hot, it's better than the cold weather of winter.
If you don't want to cook tonight, our WBID restaurants have a great selection of foods, from the best pizza to the best Thai food on Jamaica Avenue. So order in or eat out at one of our comfortably air-conditioned restaurants from Dexter Court to 100th Street.
On August 12 from noon to 4 p.m., the WBID will sponsor a free trolley along 25 blocks of Jamaica Avenue. You can get on and off free of charge to help you shop and eat at each end of the avenue.
Don’t forget to water your street trees, and please leave your porch lights on overnight to keep your neighbors and family safe when they come home after dark.
The WBID welcomes your complaints and comments, for we do pay attention and respond. It may take time, but we do not give up and we continue to pursue every condition brought to our attention.
Just because we don't announce every problem, it does not mean that we are not working on solving it. Please do not hesitate to contact our office. Fly our flag proudly above all others.
May God bless our armed forces, may God bless our disabled veterans, may God bless our leaders, may God bless our NYPD and police officers everywhere, and may God bless our great America.
The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation will sponsor a Metrocard Van visit to Woodhaven on Tuesday, August 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Forest Parkway and Jamaica Avenue. Services include purchasing or adding money to your Metrocard and reduced fare Metrocards for anyone 65 years of age or older who has a qualifying disability. For additional information on the Reduced Fare Program and applications, call (718) 330-1234.
